Netflix customers see red after price hike
If NetflixNike Air Max Light had filed Tuesday's price-hike news in a movie genre, it would be either drama or horror.
U.S. customers of the DVD-by-mail and Web-streaming Nike Air Max Lebron VII(7)service are storming the Internet to protest Netflix's plan to increase the prices of its most popular packages.
"The changes you guys have made in the Nike Air Max LeBron 8last 4-6 months have turned me from a serious Netflix Geek into considering cancellation. It's a damn shame," wrote aNike Air Max Commandcustomer named Justin Block, one of almost 6,000 commenters on Netflix's blog.

Oil price drops on reserve sale
The price of oil has fallen after the International Energy Agency said that its members will sell some of their reserves on the world market. Nike Air Max 2011 Brent crude ended Thursday trading down $6.95 to $107.26, a four-month low. US light crude fell by $4.39 to settle at $91.02. The IEA says the move is in response to the disruption in supplies caused by the Libyan conflict. It plans to release an extra 60 million barrels of oil on to the world market. The US government has announced that 30m barrels, half of the total, will be released from its Strategic Petroleum Reserve. The UK plans to contribute three million barrels. Coach Kristin Handbags "Events in the Middle East and North Africa have disrupted supply and contributed to the price spike. So we've been working closely with our international partners to take action," said UK chancellor George Osborne. It is only the third time the IEA has asked its member nations - who are mostly oil importers - to release some of their spare supply. The release of reserves temporarily increases global oil supply by around 2.2%. The agency estimates that the Libya conflict removed 132m barrels of oil from the market up until the end of May. Nike Air Max 2010 There were concerns that a seasonal increase in demand for oil - coinciding with the US "driving season" - would cause prices to rise further. Economic worries The release is also designed to reduce the price of oil further in order to protect the economy. "I expect this action will contribute to well-supplied markets and to ensuring a soft landing for the world economy," said IEA executive director Nobuo Tanaka. The IEA had warned high oil prices would cause a slowdown in the world economy. Coach Poppy Handbags Oil prices had already fallen on Thursday after lower US growth forecasts and worries about an economic slowdown in China concerned investors. "Clearly, the energy price spike is being cited as the reason for the economic slowdown and this is a reaction to that. The Libyan outage provides good cover," said John Kilduff a partner at Again Capital LLC. The moves follows an unexpected decision by Opec to hold oil production steady at the cartel's last meeting earlier in June. The IEA had called on Opec to increase output to meet demand and lower prices. Nike Air Max 2003 But despite the failure to raise production at the meeting, some countries, such as Saudi Arabia, had already said they would increase production to meet IEA concerns. Analysts have warned there is a risk the IEA's latest move may hurt relations with major oil exporters. "Saudi had come out and said it would be increasing production to meet demand, and consumer governments are over-riding that with short-term reserve increases," said Amrita Sen an oil analyst at Barclays capital. "The long-term impact on prices could actually be much worse," she added. Coach Madison-Handbags The Paris-based agency says it consulted with both producer and consumer countries before making the decision. IEA members must hold sufficient stocks of oil to last 90 days without any imports - currently the IEA says its members are holding enough for 146 days or 4.1 billion barrels. They have agreed to make two million barrels of this available every day for 30 days, increasing supply on the market and so reducing the price. The IEA says it will review the market again in 30 days time.

Syrian foreign minister condemns extended EU sanctions
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem has attacked the European Union for extending sanctions against his country. Nike Air Max Triax 94 LE The EU is imposing a travel ban on four "military-linked entities" and seven individuals, implicated in the suppression of protesters in Syria. The EU first imposed sanctions on President Bashar al-Assad on 23 May. The president's promise earlier this week of reforms did little to placate his opponents. In his address on state TV on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Muallem denied that Iran or Hezbollah had had a hand in putting down unrest inside Syria. replica coach handbags The EU disagrees. Three of the seven individuals being sanctioned are Iranians, according to an unnamed EU official who has spoken to reporters in Brussels. The sanctions are expected to come into force on 24 June, once they have been signed off by EU member states. Rounding on what Syria regards as unwarranted criticism by the European Union, Mr Muallem said; "No-one from Europe has come to visit Syria. They do not listen to us. They learn about Syria from outside Syria only. The world is not only Europe. We will forget that Europe exists on the map. We will ask to withdraw our membership from the Euromed." Euromed was re-launched in 2008 to bring together the EU and its 16 neighbours in the Middle East and North Africa, with the aim of promoting democracy and free trade. Nike Air Max T-Zone LE In a separate diplomatic development, the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon renewed calls for Syria to allow fact-finding and humanitarian missions, to investigate disputed events during months of anti-government protests. Mr Ban spoke to the BBC shortly after he was re-elected as UN chief, saying he was very concerned about human rights violations in Syria. The opposition estimates that more than 1,300 civilians have been killed along with more than 300 soldiers and police since March. Thousands more protesters have been detained, they say. A recent government crackdown in the north of the country has led to thousands of Syrians fleeing into Turkey or camping out on the Syrian side of the border. Coach Sunglasses "Many foreign media outlets have not been honest in their coverage of events as they really happened in Jisr al-Shughour," Mr Muallem said. "As for the refugees in Turkey, I know that these refugees were forced to flee and live in the tents that were erected for them weeks before the Syrian Army entered Jisr al- Shughour. We called them back to return home. President Assad gave them guarantees to return home. We call on our friends in Turkey to help us return these refugees home." He also called on regional allies - particularly Turkey - to maintain good relations. In his speech two days earlier, President Assad referred vaguely to dark forces attempting to destabilise Syria. Now his foreign minister has pointed the finger specifically at al Qaeda. Nike Air Max Wright "I cannot hide the fact that some of the practices that we have seen in the killings of security personnel gives an indication that these acts were carried out by al-Qaeda," he told reporters in Damascus. He called on "the saboteurs" in Syria to end their violence, and join the national dialogue that he says will set out the path for the future.

US election 2012: Jon Huntsman joins Republican field
Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman has announced his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Nike Air Max Wright In sight of the Statue of Liberty, Mr Huntsman declared that he respected President Barack Obama but had "a difference of opinion on how to help the country we both love." Mr Huntsman enters the race at the bottom of the field, and is little-known to the party's electorate. He most recently served as Mr Obama's ambassador to China from 2009 to 2011. Mr Huntsman's service as envoy in Beijing until April this year is seen as one of his most significant liabilities, with some staunchly conservative Republicans viewing his work for Mr Obama as a betrayal of the Republican Party. The son of a wealthy chemical manufacturer, Mr Huntsman rides a motorcycle and plays in a rock band. Nike outlet He worked as a White House aide under President Ronald Reagan, was ambassador to Singapore under the first President George Bush, and was a trade official under President George W Bush. Before being elected Utah governor in 2004, Mr Huntsman ran his family's multi-billion dollar chemical manufacturing company. He is the second Mormon candidate to join the race, along with Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor currently seen as the Republican front-runner. Debt warning Mr Huntsman said in New York that the US must make "hard decisions that are necessary to avert disaster," a reference to the country's $14.3tr public debt and $1.5tr budget deficit. Nike Air Griffey Max "If we don't, in less than a decade, every dollar of federal revenue will go to covering the costs of Medicare, Social Security and interest payments on our debt," he said, referring to healthcare and public pension programmes for older Americans. "Meanwhile, we'll sink deeper in debt to pay for everything else - from national security to disaster relief." He is also calling for efforts to reduce US dependence on foreign oil and to create jobs, without laying out specifics policies in either area. Mr Huntsman opens his campaign with a markedly more moderate tone than those of his rivals, some of whom have questioned Mr Obama's patriotism and loyalty to American ideals. Women Nike Dunk SB High "Our political debates today are corrosive and not reflective of the belief that Abe Lincoln espoused, that we are a great country because we are a good country," he said. "We will conduct this campaign on the high road. I don't think you need to run down someone's reputation in order to run for this office. "I respect the president," Mr Huntsman continued. "He and I have a difference of opinion on how to help the country we both love. "But the question each of us wants the voters to answer is who will be the better president, not who is the better American." Current polls show Mr Huntsman with the support of less than 2% of Republican voters, and some surveys have shown as much as 60% of the primary electorate does not know who he is. Air Max Shoes Outlet Online Already in the race are Mr Romney, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, former Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, Texas Congressman Ron Paul and Georgia businessman Herman Cain. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Texas Governor Rick Perry are thought to be considering running, but have not yet entered the race.

Nuclear watchdog wants new safety checks after Fukushima
The head of the UN nuclear watchdog has called for strengthened international safety checks to help prevent a repeat of Japan's nuclear crisis at Fukushima. Cheap Women Nike Dunk Low Yukiya Amano said UN experts should be able to carry out random reviews of nuclear power stations. He has also called for countries to carry out risk assessments on their reactors within 18 months. The watchdog, the IAEA, is holding a meeting in Vienna aimed at improving nuclear safety. Officials from 150 nations are meeting at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) offices in Vienna. Nike Air Max Plus Mr Amano said nations had to respond to the great public anxiety caused by the Fukushima accident. "Public confidence in the safety of nuclear power has been badly shaken. However, nuclear power will remain important for many countries, so it is imperative that the most stringent safety measures and implemented everywhere," he said. He also UN experts to be permitted to perform random safety reviews of their reactors. The suggestion that UN experts perform random checks is controversial, says the BBC's Bethany Bell in Vienna. At the moment, there are no compulsory international nuclear safety regulations as many countries believe nuclear safety is the responsibility of individual states. Nike outlet 'Unprecedented emergency' The Fukushima disaster has prompted widespread public concern about nuclear safety. The nuclear plant's cooling systems were knocked out by the 11 March earthquake and tsunami. The disaster caused meltdown at three of the reactors. More than three months after the accident, the facility is still leaking radioactive material. Germany has decided to shut down all its reactors by 2022 and Italy has voted against plans to revive nuclear power. The IAEA report on the Fukushima accident is to be published on Monday at the conference. Nike Air Max Tailwind Leaks from the report indicate it has found that Japan did not follow all the proper guidelines for how to respond to the crisis. It failed to follow some safety measures, and did not learn from past threats to nuclear plants in areas prone to tsunami risk, according to leaks. But it will also praise the dangerous and hard work carried out by Japan's nuclear workers. "The operators were faced with a catastrophic, unprecedented emergency scenario with no power, reactor control or instrumentation," the 160-page report will say. Cheap Kids Dunk High Some 110,000 tonnes of water have built up during efforts to cool reactors since the twin natural disasters, hampering work to bring the plant under control. The contaminated water, enough to fill 40 Olympic-sized swimming pools, is increasing by 500 tonnes a day as fresh water is continuously being injected to cool the reactors. An operation on Friday to decontaminate the water was abandoned after just a few hours because of a rapid rise in radiation. Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that storage facilities are filling up, so a delay in restarting the filtering system could cause the water to overflow into the sea in about a week. Nike Air Max Triax 94 LE Fukushima is the world's worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl in Ukraine in 1986.

Robert Gates confirms US-Taliban talks in Afghanistan
Outgoing US Defence Secretary Robert Gates has confirmed that the US is holding "outreach" talks with members of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Cheap D&G shoes Mr Gates said talks were "preliminary" but that a political solution was the way "most of these wars end". It is the first time the US has acknowledged such contact and comes a day after Afghan President Hamid Karzai said peace talks had started. The US is due to start withdrawing its 97,000 troops from Afghanistan in July. It aims to gradually hand over all security operations to Afghan security forces by 2014. "There's been outreach on the part of a number of countries, including the United States," Mr Gates told CNN., without naming other countries involved. Nike Air Max BW "I would say that these contacts are very preliminary. "My own view is that real reconciliation talks are not likely to be able to make any substantive headway until at least this winter." 'Time to engage' Mr Gates, who will leave office at the end of the month, said the first step had been to ensure the contacts were genuine and influential Taliban members. "We don't want to end up having a conversation at some point with somebody who is basically a freelancer." Mr Karzai said on Saturday that peace talks involving Afghan officials, the US and other "foreign militaries" were taking place and were "going well". Nike outlet He gave no details as to whether the discussions involved Taliban officials with US authorities, or a go-between. Shortly after, the Taliban said it carried out a number of suicide attacks in Kabul, killing nine people and injuring 12. Police said insurgents also attacked two convoys supplying Nato troops in the eastern province of Ghazni, killing four security guards. The Taliban's official position regarding peace talks is that they will only negotiate once international forces leave Afghanistan, and that they will only talk to the Afghan government. But analysts say that stance appears to be changing. Diplomats have previously spoken of preliminary talks being held by both sides in the continuing conflict. Nike Air Max Command The UK said that with the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, it was time for the Taliban to "positively engage" in the political process, and that it supported Afghan efforts to reintegrate insurgents who were "prepared to renounce violence, cut links with terrorist groups, and accept the constitution". In a separate interview published on Sunday, Mr Gates said the human cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan made him more wary of backing US military intervention. "If we were about to be attacked or had been attacked or something happened that threatened a vital US national interest, I would be the first in line to say, 'Let's go'," Mr Gates told the New York Times. "I will always be an advocate in terms of wars of necessity. I am just much more cautious on wars of choice." Nike sb shoes Sanctions move The Taliban ruled Afghanistan before being driven from power by US-backed forces in 2001. It had sheltered al-Qaeda members, including Bin Laden. On Friday, the UN split a sanctions blacklist for the Taliban and al-Qaeda, to encourage Taliban members to turn their back on the Islamist organisation and join reconciliation efforts. Before now, both organisations have been handled by the same UN sanctions committee. Nike Air Max LeBron 8 The UN Security Council said it was sending a signal to the Taliban that now is the time to join the political process.

Argentine leader says UK 'arrogant' over Falklands
The president of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, has called Britain "arrogant" for refusing to negotiate on the Falklands. nike dunk shoes She was speaking a day after UK Prime Minister David Cameron said the issue of sovereignty was non-negotiable. President Fernandez called his refusal to hold talks on the sovereignty of the Falklands, or Malvinas, arrogant and bordering on stupidity. Britain defeated an Argentine invasion of the islands in 1982. The Falklands are at the centre of a territorial dispute dating back to the 19th Century. Nike Air Max 2011 Argentina has repeatedly requested talks on the islands' future sovereignty. Mr Cameron said "as long as the Falkland Islands want to be sovereign British territory, they should remain sovereign British territory - full stop, end of story." 'Crude colonial power' President Fernandez described his comments as an "expression of mediocrity, and almost of stupidity". Nike outlet She said the British "continue to be a crude colonial power in decline". Earlier this week a British man became the first Falkland islander to choose Argentine citizenship. James Peck was handed his national identity card by President Fernandez, during a ceremony to mark the 29th anniversary of the end of the Falklands War. Osborne plans to sell Northern Rock to a single buyer
Chancellor George Osborne has confirmed that he is going to try to sell Northern Rock to a single buyer. Nike Dunk SB Low He has not rejected other options, but has been advised he will make the most money by selling it in one go. In his Mansion House speech, Mr Osborne also said that banks should ring-fence retail from investment banking. He said banks must be set up so that their High Street branches and savings and loans would not be damaged if their trading arms ran into trouble. The legal separation of the functions of big banks was recommended by the Independent Commission on Banking. Split bank Nike Air Max 90-Boots The auction of Northern Rock is expected to raise about £1bn, which is less than the £1.4bn the government injected into the bank, although not all of it is to be sold. The former mutual has been split into a "good bank", containing customers' savings and about 70 branches, and a "bad bank" containing the more toxic loans. The former is set to be sold, while the latter will continue to be owned by the Treasury. However, shadow chancellor Ed Balls called for Northern Rock to be mutualised rather than sold off, and accused Mr Osborne of failing to give the option serious consideration. Nike outlet He has also criticised the chancellor for not announcing the sale in the House of Commons first. Mr Osborne said that, "the independent advice I have received is that a sale process is likely to generate substantially the best value for the taxpayer and should be explored as a first option". Even selling to a single buyer, Northern Rock may still be remutualised because the Treasury expects to receive bids from Yorkshire Building Society and from Coventry Building Society. Other possible bidders include Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Money and NBNK, the company set up last year to buy banks, although both Virgin and NBNK are more interested in buying Verde, the much bigger banking business that Lloyds is being forced to sell. Coach Necklaces More capital Robert Peston said the restructuring of banks to protect their retail businesses would represent "the most significant reform to our banking system since Big Bang in 1986 made it much easier for our giant banks to buy stock brokers and become huge in investment banking". Mr Osborne also said that banks should have to hold more capital to protect themselves against future losses than the new international minimum of 7% of their risky assets. He did not put a figure on what minimum he will impose, but Treasury sources said that 10% would be "the right ballpark". Nike Dunk SB Mid The 10% minimum was another recommendation of the Independent Commission on Banking (ICB) in its interim report in April. At the time, Mr Osborne welcomed the report, but he has not previously endorsed its findings. The shadow chancellor, Ed Balls, has also given the commission his backing. "To protect customers and taxpayers we need tough accountability and transparency and clear, workable and robust firewalls," he said. Nike Air Max 93 The commission's final report, which is expected to give details of how banks' firewalls will work, is due to be published on 12 September.

Drop in sexually transmitted diseases in England
For the first time in over a decade there has been a drop in the number of new sexually transmitted infections in England, figures show. Cheap D&G shoes The Health Protection Agency says although the reduction is small - only 1% down from the 424,782 cases diagnosed in 2009 - it is significant and a step in the right direction. It says increased screening for diseases like chlamydia has helped. For the first time rates of this disease show no rise and remain stable. There were 189,612 newly diagnosed cases of chlamydia last year. At the same time, 2.2 million chlamydia tests were carried out in England among young people aged 15 to 24, an increase of 196,500 from the previous year. Nike Air Max 95 Diagnoses of genital warts went down by 3% to 75,615 new diagnoses in 2010 and syphilis was down 8% to 2,624. But other sex diseases continued to rise. Gonorrhoea went up by 3% from 15,978 diagnoses in 2009 to 16,531 in 2010. And genital herpes increased by 8% from 27,564 to 29,703. Young people under the age of 25 remain the group experiencing the highest rates of STIs overall. Dr Gwenda Hughes, head of the HPA's STI section, says the encouraging decreases "do not mean we can rest on our laurels". Nike outlet "It is particularly encouraging to see a decline in some STIs among young people. However, these latest figures show that the impact of STI diagnoses is still unacceptably high in this group. Condoms 'still safest' "Studies suggest that those who become infected may be more likely to have unsafe sex or lack the skills and confidence to negotiate safer sex. "Prevention efforts, such as greater STI screening coverage and easier access to sexual health services, should be sustained and continue to focus on groups at highest risk." To reduce the risk of STIs, experts advise using a condom when having sex with a new partner and continuing to do so until both parties have been screened. Coach Backpack Handbags And sexually active under-25-year-olds should be tested for chlamydia every year, or sooner if they change their partner.

NHS plans to be rewritten following review
The government is to accept large swathes of its plans for the NHS in England need to be rewritten, the BBC has learnt. Cheap Women Nike Dunk Low Concessions will be made over the pace of change and the powers given to GPs, as demanded by an independent review. More details - including about the role of competition in the health service - will be unveiled on Tuesday in the government's response to the review. Ministers hope a quick response will allow them to restart stalled changes. In April, the government took the unprecedented move of halting the parliamentary progress of the Health and Social Care Bill underpinning the changes amid mounting criticism from academics, health unions and MPs. Nike Air Max 97 A panel of experts, called the NHS Future Forum, was set up to review the policy. Its report on Monday recommended a wide-range of changes be made. However, it is not yet clear what the government will do about the recommendations the forum made about competition. Patient choice Ministers had originally wanted to hand GPs control of much of the NHS budget, while opening up the health service to greater competition. Coach Sunglasses But the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg understands the government will not be explicit on whether all GP groups in England will be compelled to take on control of budgets and planning. It means GP commissioning will therefore still be voluntary. The forum had suggested that, while GPs should remain in the driving seat, they should consult with other professionals. The review also proposed a greater balance between competition and co-operation among NHS hospitals, charities and private firms. The focus on competition - perhaps the most controversial element of the plans - needed to be "significantly diluted", it said. Nike outlet Originally, the regulator - Monitor - was to have a primary duty to promote competition, but that should be dropped along with the term "economic regulator", which the forum said made the NHS sound too much like the gas or electricity industry. Instead, the regulator should focus on ensuring patients have choice to drive up standards. While competition had a role to play, so did collaboration and integration, the forum said. Sir Richard Thompson, president of the Royal College of Physicians, said the forum's changes to competition were a "step in the right direction". Dr Hamish Meldrum, chairman of British Medical Association, said the government's approach during the listening exercise had been "refreshing", but this needed to be maintained in the coming months. Nike Air Max 97 "Obviously, the critical factor is now how the government responds." Professor Steve Field, the former head of the Royal College of GPs who led the forum, said while the principle of putting doctors in charge was well supported, he had heard "genuine and deep-seated concerns" from many. "If the substantial changes we propose are accepted by government then I think the resulting framework will place the NHS in a strong position." Speaking ahead of the full government response, Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said the group had been an "invaluable source of expert advice". The BBC understands that ministers are hopeful the NHS Future Forum report and the government response will allow them to press ahead almost immediately with the programme. Cheap Kids Dunk High Officials are working on the basis that amendments could be made to the bill within weeks, allowing the government to kick-start the parliamentary process before the summer.

China unrest: 25 arrested after clashes with police
Police in southern China say they have arrested 25 people after clashes between residents and security forces near the city of Guangzhou. Cheap Nike Dunk SB Mid A crowd threw bottles and bricks at police after a dispute between two street vendors and local security. Riot police are also patrolling the city of Lichuan in central China after crowds attacked government offices. Protests and clashes with police are common in China over corruption and land seizures by local officials. In the Guangzhou incident, reports said people in the town of Xintang blocked traffic and damaged vehicles as the dispute between police and two street vendors, a migrant couple, escalated. Coach Heels&Sandals Police later seized control of the area, which is in southern China's manufacturing heartland and is home to migrants working in a number of textile factories. 'Unnatural death' The arrests follow a separate incident further north, in Lichuan city in Hubei province, where hundreds of people laid siege to local government offices following the death in custody of a respected local official. The official, Ran Jinxian, had been arrested for allegedly taking bribes linked to land seizures and forced demolitions of people's homes. Nike outlet Mr Ran, 49, was arrested on 26 May and died on 4 June. His family said he was beaten to death during interrogation. "Ran's cousin said he found signs of wounds and bruises on Ran's body at the hospital and believed that they were signs of an 'unnatural death'," state-run Xinhua news agency said. Residents of Lichuan said Mr Ran was arrested because he refused to co-operate with his superiors in a campaign of land requisitions. Several officials have been detained or are under investigation over Mr Ran's death. Rosetta comet chaser goes into deep sleep
Europe's Rosetta spacecraft, which is heading for a rendezvous with a comet in 2014, has been put into hibernation by its controllers. Cheap Women Nike Dunk Low The command was sent from Germany on Wednesday, instructing the probe to enter a deep sleep. Only heaters and an "alarm clock" have been left running. Nothing will be heard from the spacecraft for the next two-and-a-half years - not even a reassuring beep. Rosetta should wake up at 1000 GMT on 20 January 2014. Assuming it does, the spacecraft will then be just a few months away from its appointment with Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko out near the Planet Jupiter. The plan is for it to orbit the 4km-wide ball of ice and dust and put a small lander on its surface. Coach Colette Handbags "The spacecraft may now be at rest but the team has a busy time ahead, getting ready for the meeting with the comet," said Dr Gerhard Schwehm, the European Space Agency's (Esa) Rosetta mission manager. "I expect I will be a little nervous on 20 January 2014, and I might not sleep the night before - but I'll be really excited as well," he told BBC News. Remarkably, Rosetta caught sight of its quarry in recent weeks, even though the object is still more than 150 million kilometres away. The probe's onboard Osiris camera system, managed by scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Germany, succeeded in picking out the comet against a dense field of stars in the Scorpius Constellation. Nike outlet Rosetta's "bedtime" orders were despatched from Esoc, Esa's European Space Operations Centre in Darmstadt. The probe's scientific instruments had already been powered down in recent months. The last instructions were to shut down sub-systems on the satellite. Rosetta was swivelled so that its solar wings faced the Sun, and it was put in a gentle spin so that it no longer needed to use thrusters to maintain a stable configuration. The concluding message directing shut down was sent at 1258 GMT. It would have taken 30 minutes for this message to reach Rosetta at its great separation from Earth, and a few more minutes for the spacecraft to act on the command. The Darmstadt controllers, who were using listening stations in Australia, got confirmation that the satellite was in full hibernation when it went silent at 1413 GMT. Coach Ergo Handbags The onboard computer has been left running to monitor two functions - the clock system that will eventually wake Rosetta, and a pair of heaters. These heaters will come on occasionally to ensure that the entire satellite does not freeze up as it moves through the cold of deep space. "The thermal system is fundamental for the spacecraft to maintain all the temperatures in a safe range for the instruments, for the units we have onboard, and mainly for the propellant tanks," explained Esa spacecraft operations manager Andrea Accomazzo. "We cannot allow the propellant to freeze, otherwise in 2014, the spacecraft will not be able to spin-down and recover from the hibernation," he told BBC News. Cheap Kids Dunk High This has involved making a number of flybys of the inner planets, using their gravity to pick up sufficient speed for the eventual comet encounter. It has already delivered some fascinating science, particularly at the close passes it made to two asteroids - the rocks Steins, in 2008, and Lutetia, in 2010. When Rosetta wakes in the January of 2014, it will use the time before its July rendezvous to study Churyumov-Gerasimenko and plan its approach. The intention is for Rosetta to follow the comet as it moves in towards the Sun, monitoring the changes that take place on the body. Coach Backpack Handbags Comets - giant "dirty snowballs", as some have called them - are believed to contain materials that have remained largely unchanged since the formation of the Solar System 4.6bn years ago, and Rosetta data should help researchers understand better how our local space environment has evolved over that time.

Man 'hid in case to burgle' Barcelona airport coach
Spanish police have arrested a man said to have smuggled himself in a case on to Barcelona airport coaches in order to burgle the luggage compartments. Kids Dunk Low An alleged accomplice was also arrested after the first man was found "doubled up almost like a contortionist" inside the case, police said. Asked what he was doing, the suitcase man, who wore a head lamp, said he had been unable to pay the coach fare. Police had been alerted after a string of thefts on the shuttle service. The alleged burglar was also found with a sharp tool apparently used for opening zips and locks, as well as a small bag and a mobile phone. Warm to the touch Coach Travel Handbags Police believe the man was loaded on to coaches by his accomplice, who would then reclaim him after the 90-minute return trip to Barcelona's Girona airport. "Once the trip began, he would get out of the suitcase, search for valuable objects and hide them in a smaller bag he carried with him," regional Catalan police were quoted as saying by AFP news agency. But last Friday, Spain's el Periodico newspaper reports, a coach company employee noticed a man struggling to put a heavy suitcase in the hold of a coach and alerted the authorities. Police officers knocked on the case and noticed that it was warm. Nike outlet Inside, they found the alleged burglar, who was pouring with sweat. His alleged accomplice had already boarded the coach. The two men, both Polish citizens, were arrested for the theft of a laptop and a GPS device, while police are seeking to trace other possible burglary victims.
